Cambridgeshire woman loses almost five stone with help of Pilates

Michelle Bird transformed herself from an overweight, comfort-eating agoraphobic to a slim, healthy and toned fitness instructor after she discovered yoga and Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes.

Bird, who is 34, went from 13st to a slimmer 8st 7lb in just two years, and reportedly she has transformed her whole life in the process. She is now an extremely fit and active lady, who is qualified to offer nutritional advice and teach kettlebell classes at her new exercise business.

The Chatteris woman was obese and struggling with anxiety when she first stumbled upon yoga and Pilates exercises. Bird combined the two exercises with breathing techniques, which helped her to relieve her stress in a much more healthy way than her previous regime, which consisted of comfort eating to ease the problem.

Bird was close to developing type-2 diabetes as a result of her overeating, which was in turn caused by a number of anxiety disorders, including agoraphobia, which developed after moving from Grantham to Cambridgeshire as she did not know anyone. Bird quickly ballooned to an unhealthy size 18.

When doctors told her that she had to change her lifestyle, she quickly joined a slimming club to get her diet under control and found a local Pilates class, which really kicked off her passion for holistic health and fitness.
