Cameron Diaz’ trainer explains Pilates and weights workout

In recent months there have been plenty of celebrities talking about how Pilates has helped them to regain their shape or to lose weight, and the latest celebrity to be mentioned with Pilates is Cameron Diaz.

Diaz’ trainer, Teddy Bass, told UsMagazine.com that when Cameron works out she uses a mixture of Pilates and weights – and that’s how she’s got in shape for filming new film Bad Teacher.

He commented:

“That seems to be the best combination for women over 30. Women need weight — it’s great for building the butt. And elongation and smallness is tapped by doing Pilates. You can do a great Pilates session in 45 minutes. If you have an hour-and-a-half, we’ll do half weights and half Pilates and flexibility work.”

He added that the pair of them get to the gym as much as possible and combine compound exercises such as squats and lunges with Pilates, with a combination of mat Pilates and a reformer machine.

For those who say they can’t afford the gym, Bass had this to say:

“Everyone says, ‘I don’t have money, I can’t join a gym.’ Most of the work that I do doesn’t use a gym. I don’t have a reformer machine when I go to set. We don’t carry leg presses. You just need 10-pound dumbbells and a four-by-six space. As long as you’re doing cardiovascular [work] three to five times a week, leg exercises that build your glutes and working on your elongation with yoga and Pilates, you’ll change [your] appearance.”

It is certainly true that you can do some cardio work and plenty of Pilates without needing to visit a gym or spend much money. Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes can also work out quite cheaply, even if you only go for a short while to learn how to move correctly.
