Emmy Rossum reveals new exercise regime

At 32, Emmy Rossum decided to change the way she stays healthy has put Pilates at the centre of her new fitness regime.

The actress spoke at length about her views on weight, aging and staying fit during a recent interview she did with Pam O’Brien from Shape. This past year has been one of great change for Rossum.

In August, she left Shameless, after nine years of working on the hit show. The decision to leave was hers, but naturally, after so much time, actually leaving has not been easy. However, that change seems to have inspired the star to re-evaluate other areas of her life.

In particular, the way she stays fit. During her interview, she explained that she has started listening to her body more when it comes to what type of exercise she does, resulting in changing the way she works out.

The biggest change she has made is to reduce the amount of high-intensity interval training sessions she does and focus more on gentler forms of exercise. Rossum told Shape:

“I started doing Pilates-type exercises, specifically a program called GST [Grace Somatomorphic Technique], which is stretching based. It feels so good. You get the intensity, but it’s not like, Oh my God, how long do I have to do this?”

She made the change primarily because she wanted an exercise regime that was enjoyable as well as effective. This change is part of her drive to become happier than she is now.
