Golf club tees off with Pilates classes

The expertise of a Pilates tutor has been enlisted by a golf club to assist its members in improving their game.

Craig Tudor, resident professional at Mold Golf club, has teamed up with a Pilates instructor Lucy Buckley to help players with their flexibility and core strength.

The exercises have already been put to good use by Tiger Woods, so Tudor is hoping that it becomes popular at his club after seeing how it improved his own game.

He commented: “I have tried it myself while playing in Switzerland, and it is not hard to see the benefits it could bring to anyone’s game.”

For Lucy, who for ten years was a professional ice skater, it is a chance to stay involved in sports:

“When I finished competing I toured the world in ice shows before retiring completely. I couldn’t shake the desire to get involved in sport again. To that end I trained as a fitness instructor and that was when I looked into Pilates again, as an instructor.”

Buckley has been an instructor for over two years, and explains how the exercises can help to improve your golf:

“A golf swing is broken down into individual movements and Pilates is a discipline that makes you focus on individual movements, making it easier to correct or improve a player’s swing. It works to strengthen your abdominals and lower back, through your core and mobilises your spine.”

Golf is recommended to many people who are required to exercise at a slower pace, as is Pilates. People of all levels of fitness can benefit from it, and qualified instructors can explain how it can benefit you in Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes throughout Pilates classes in Chorley pilates classes Chorley, Pilates classes in Clitheroe pilates classes Clitheroe and across Pilates classes in Lancashire pilates classes Lancashire.
