Phoebe Burgess uses Pilates to counterbalance chaos of family life

Phoebe Burgess, the 30 year-old former journalist and wife of NRL star Sam Burgess, has opened up about her family life after speculation over the couple’s marriage challenges in the past few months.

The couple have had troubles in recent times and even briefly split only a few weeks after the birth of their second child in December. Phoebe has opened up to Now to Love about how she’s just a normal mum of two at home, how Pilates has helped her cope and about the organised chaos that is their lives.

Most families with young kids close in age would relate to the daily grind of feeds, nappies and bedtime routines, and Phoebe explained that recovery from having a second child with a two-and-a-half year old has been tough. She added that getting back into her Pilates routine has helped her to cope physically, with it also helping her mental wellbeing. Burgess explained:

“I found that getting back into my Pilates is helping me find my centre and balance again. It’s a moment for me that’s just for myself…a pause in the day. It’s quite meditative.”

While not everyone is married to a highly-paid sports star, many can relate to trying to bounce back after pregnancy and finding the time for some peace in a hectic day.
