Projected worldwide fitness trends were released in a global survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) published in its November to December journal, which showed that the requirement for qualified fitness professionals is still in high demand globally and set to continue into 2010.

The list predicted the top 20 fitness trends in the worldwide market and top of the list is the importance of using trained fitness professionals. The survey attributed this to better industry regulation and specialised training programmes.

Second on the list is strength training, which has increased as people become more aware of how improved muscle tone helps with metabolism and gives anti-aging benefits.

Pilates was once again amongst the top 10 fitness trends predicted for 2010 according to the report, which was described in The Independent yesterday as:

Pilates: A mainstay of many health and fitness clubs, Pilates improves flexibility and posture and provides core training for the entire body

Amongst the other fitness trends predicted in the report were fitness programmes tailored specifically for obese or overweight children and senior adults, personal training and one to one sessions and core training, such as that included within Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes.
