Pompey winger loves Pilates

Portsmouth winger Andy Barcham is the latest footballer to embrace Pilates.

He joins other esteemed football players including Ryan Giggs and Gareth Bale, who have also stumbled upon the benefits of Pilates for the beautiful game.

Barcham has taken up Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes in the hope that it will help him to recover from an injury and prevent further complications.

Many people balk at the idea of footballers participating in Pilates classes, but it is becoming ever more popular as science gets behind the practice, proving that it can have a positive effect on players’ health and fitness.

Barcham suffered a serious thigh injury, which meant that he could not participate in much of the latter half of the last footballing season. This is what prompted him to take to the mat and try Pilates. He feels that this could be the breakthrough that he needs to finally heal from his injury and get back into the swing of things.

Speaking about his new regime, he told the Portsmouth News:

“We’ve started doing some different things to help me. I’ve taken up Pilates to try to help my body. We’ve only just started but a few of the boys have been on it. Hopefully it is something which will benefit me for the rest of the season. Hopefully I can improve, get better at it and my muscles feel the benefit of it.”

He also told the paper that Ben Pilates classes in Chorley pilates classes Chorley, the Blues captain, is also a fan of the stretching exercise.
