In the past, he’s used Bikram Yoga and a diet free from wheat to stay fit and improve his energy, but now Andy Murray has turned to Pilates to get him through the final tournaments of the tennis season.

Last season, he was so exhausted and sore that he made the difficult decision to withdraw from the ATP World Tour Finals, which is a showcase for the top eight male tennis players. This is the kind of thing the tennis star is hoping Pilates classes will help him to avoid this year. Murray said:

“I started doing Pilates a few weeks ago and it has already helped me out. After only three or four sessions, my body started to feel great compared to how it’s felt in the past few years, so hopefully I’ll be good to go.”

Murray also said that Pilates has stopped him from feeling sore and stiff after matches – something which he has struggled with in past tournaments. It is clear that Pilates is doing him the world of good and could well mean the difference between him being victorious or being unsuccessful in his final tournament of the year.
