The supermodels who are chosen to promote American lingerie company Victoria’s Secret are known for their incredibly lithe and toned physiques – so it is not at all a surprise to find that they participate in regular Pilates classes in Pilates classes pilates classes Pilates classes as part of their vigorous exercise regimes.

Ahead of the recent 2013 Victoria’s Secret fashion Show, two fitness trainers for the company – Mary Helen Bowers and Justin Gelband –talked about the strict regimes their models are placed on in order to get fit and remain in top shape for the show.

Along with a strict diet, the models are expected to spend a lot of time working out. This means that they must attend regular Pilates classes, kickboxing sessions and do a lot of cardio. Since the aim of their trainers is to ensure that the models look long and lean, rather than muscular, they focus on high intensity interval training and exercises like Pilates, which are known for creating lean, rather than bulky muscle. The kind of physique built through Pilates serves a practical purpose, too; it helps the models greatly when wearing heavy outfits on the catwalk.

Speaking about the models and how they achieve their looks, Justin Gelband said:

“Everybody thinks these girls are born with a gift. Maybe they’re more beautiful than the average person, but that doesn’t mean that their bodies don’t start at a four, six, or eight.”

With a strict but healthy diet and a rigorous Pilates schedule, it is possible for anyone to have a body like models such as Karlie Kloss or Alessandra Ambrosio.
