Acclaimed actress Hilary Swank recently showed off her Pilates honed body whilst holidaying in Hawaii.
The 36 year old showed no signs of giving in to middle aged spread as she was pictured with John Campisi, who she has been dating for four years.
Swank, who won her second Oscar for her role in 2004’s Million Dollar Baby, wore a pink bikini whilst taking a stroll along the beach path near to her hotel. Swank has said that she is naturally athletic and loves to take part in sports. For her role as a boxer in Million Dollar Baby, she bulked up her physique by packing on a stone and a half of muscle.
She has slimmed back down since then, and keeps in shape with a combination of Pilates and Core Fusion, a mix of cardio, yoga and Pilates.
Swank is the latest in a long line of celebrities who have turned to Pilates as a way of keeping fit whilst maintaining a busy schedule. Lady Gaga, who is currently touring, reportedly requests that her hotel book her in for Pilates classes wherever she is staying, as this helps her to prepare for her gruelling stage show. Despite the party-girl image, the singer takes her fitness very seriously and takes a set of dumbbells with her wherever she travels.
Luckily, such opportunities to stay fit are not the sole preserve for the rich and famous. Pilates classes are available in towns and cities like Preston or
Blackburn, to more rural locations such as
Rawtenstall. They offer a friendly atmosphere and small classes, and so are perfect for the beginner.
